GAIN information session

NAQA joined the Global Academic Integrity Network (GAIN) information session on 12 February. At the meeting, representatives of agencies from around the world presented the results of their work for the current period, discussed plans for the future, current challenges and methods of combating threats to academic integrity.

At the beginning of the meeting, the co-founders of GAIN, the Irish (QQI) and Australian (TEQSA) higher education quality assurance agencies, reminded the audience of the Network’s goal of providing an international platform for coordination, discussion, cooperation and information exchange between agencies to combat academic integrity violations.

During the meeting, Helen Gniel, a representative of the Australian agency (TEQSA), mentioned, in particular, the challenges of our century related to the use of artificial intelligence:

“We had a couple of sessions where we really looked at generative AI models, what they were capable of and their potential uses by learners, and we’ve had heard from quite a few of our Members about their different approaches to policy and regulatory responses when, as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly available and ubiquitous, we’ve also talked about the different legislative frameworks that exist in some of the Members for combating contract cheating.

Then, representatives of agencies from Andorra, Italy, and South Africa spoke about the benefits of GAIN membership and reported on current developments in the field of academic integrity in their countries.

The Network was officially founded in October 2022 as a joint initiative of the Irish (QQI) and Australian (TEQSA) higher education quality assurance agencies. It currently has 36 members and their number continues to grow every year.

NAQA continuously cooperates with foreign partners and international organisations to share experience and implement the best international practices in the field of academic integrity in Ukraine.
