On March 25, the building of another Ukrainian HEI was destroyed as a result of the missile attack on Kyiv by the non-human russian federation. The Department of Monumental and Easel Painting of the Mykhailo Boichuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative Applied Arts and Design became a ruin because of the aggressor’s insatiable thirst for destruction.
The colorful and vivid classrooms are damaged and devastated. The destroyed gym, congress-hall and exhibition center, took the brunt of the attack and became a grim evidence of the terrorist’s crime. Such iconic cultural spots as the Mykhailo Boichuk Museum and the exhibition “Ukrainian Woman in the Flames of War” don’t exist anymore. It became a poignant tribute to the resilience of Ukrainian women in the face of trials.
The senseless destruction of the HEI is a harsh reminder of what the aggressor is willing to do. It tried to wipe out the rich cultural canvas of Ukraine. Despite this, the young artists who created and continue to create within the walls of the Boichuk Academy prevent a meaningless desire of the russian aggressors to achieve their plan. An unconquered spirit, determination to rebuild and preserve a heritage is living among the ruins. So, the flame of Ukrainian culture continues to burn unquenchably against darkness, tyranny and oppression.
