russian missile hit the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Legal Sciences in Kharkiv

The light blue walls have witnessed yesterday’s insidious missile attack during which the russians destroyed a unique building and a collection of scientific literature on social sciences that had been collected since the late 18th century. The unique books survived the World War II, the nazis did not destroy it, but russia did.

Yesterday, on January 23, a russian missile hit the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Legal Sciences in Kharkiv. We are hurt because so many of our memories are tied to this academic institution. Here we held the first off-site meeting of the NAQA in 2019. Here we presented the draft Regulations on Accreditation of Study Programmes to Kharkiv academics and discussed the prospects for our development.

Culture, education, and science mean nothing to russians, they do not disdain anything. For them, educated, culturally rich, and freedom-loving Ukrainians are just dead bodies that they see on the screens of their devices after shelling on the news. They target civilian infrastructure to intimidate and show power. But by destroying an academic institution, they have achieved only one thing: Ukrainians unite, come together, and continue to live and develop. We have fought and will continue to fight for every page of our lives. Because we write our own history.

Step by step to victory!
