Chernihiv, 19.08.2023. A terrible russian war crime, barbaric in its cruelty, happened again – a rocket attack was carried out on Saturday, in the centre of a peaceful city. With the obvious understanding that the shot of a ballistic missile would hit civilians, in particular, children – because it was aimed at the central square, where the theatre and the university are located. It is especially cynical that the tragedy took place on the Orthodox holiday – the Apple Feast of the Saviour, when believers went to and from churches with baskets of apples.
Unfortunately, we already know about seven dead, including a six-year-old child, and more than a hundred injured, including 15 children … Among others, Svitlana Kormiltsyna, a senior lecturer at the department of foreign philology at Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, was killed by a russian missile during a walk with her daughter in the city park.
The russian missile also took the lives of Nazar Yushchenko, a student the Chernihiv Polytechnic University, and Nataliia Toriia, an employee of the university.
