Training for newly elected members of Sectoral Expert Councils

NAQA organised a training to assist newly elected members of the Sectoral Expert Councils in understanding their tasks, roles, and requirements in the accreditation process.

The event was opened by Andrii Butenko, NAQA Head. He emphasised the importance of the role of the Sectoral Expert Councils (SECs) in the external quality assurance system and stressed that every decision made by the SECs must be based on collegiality and professional discussion. NAQA Head emphasised the quality of the expert opinion, its significance for higher education institutions, applicants and parents, and also highlighted the value of the contribution made by each expert and member of the Sectoral Expert Council, thanking them for their willingness to take on this responsibility.

The training programme focused on the practical aspects of the SEC’s work, in particular on how to:

  • verify expert group reports taking into account the sectoral context;
  • apply the  Criteria for Assessing the Quality of the Study Programme to form well-founded conclusions and recommendations;
  • reflect the SEC’s reasoned position in the expert opinion.

The training took place throughout the day in an intensive format with active group discussions and case studies. Bohdan Morklianyk, NAQA Vice Head, joined the discussion in a ‘question-and-answer’ format.

There is a lot of important work ahead. We appreciate your commitment to working together to build a high-quality education system in Ukraine!
