Sharing experiences and incorporating the best global practices in the field of legal education quality assurance is an essential aspect of the work of all stakeholders.
On September 14, NAQA, in collaboration with colleagues from the Section on Legal Education and Admissions of the American Bar Association (ABA) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the USAID “Justice for All” Program, hosted a joint webinar: “Quality Assurance of Legal Education: ABA Tools and Best Practices.”
Andrii Butenko, the head of NAQA, noted that NAQA is currently actively working on improving the legal framework for accreditation processes in Ukraine, including legal study programmes. Close cooperation with foreign partners to enhance the quality of higher education and study foreign experiences is one of the important directions of NAQA’s work. Angela Gilmore, Senior Accreditation Counsel at the ABA Section, shared her experience in developing accreditation standards in the field of legal education and accrediting law schools in the United States. Together with Stephanie Giggetts, Deputy Managing Director of the ABA Section, the speakers addressed questions from Ukrainian colleagues that directly related to the specifics of accrediting legal study programmes, the process of obtaining legal education, and discussed various issues related to accreditation standards and procedural rules developed and implemented by the ABA Section.
