On 22 June, at night on the Day of Mourning and Remembrance of the Victims of War in Ukraine, the terrorist country of russia committed another crime. The Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas was hit by the occupiers’ missiles: one of its academic buildings was partially destroyed and several others were damaged. Fourteen buildings, a nearby kindergarten and a lyceum were also damaged.
Just a few days ago, students at this university proudly defended their diploma theses. Today, they are clearing the rubble, picking up shards of glass, broken doors and windows, and scattered books. This is a painful reminder that russia is robbing Ukrainian youth of the romance of their student years and the opportunity to receive a quality education in a peaceful country.
However, the resilience of our universities remains unbroken.
