On December 19, 2024, a round table was held at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Centre on the topic: “Updating Teacher Study Programmes in the Context of the ‘New Ukrainian School’ Reform and the Challenges of War.” Experts engaged in a discussion on shaping the educational trajectory for national development and addressing the shortage of qualified teaching staff in the general secondary education sector.
Speakers emphasised the importance of strengthening the psychological and pedagogical components in teacher training, implementing modern technologies and international best practices in the educational process, and addressing the urgent issue of educational losses.
Olena Yeremenko, NAQA Vice Head, outlined key problems encountered during the accreditation of study programmes. These include the mismatch between programmes and national requirements, the absence of competence-based approaches, the irrelevance of qualification thesis topics, weak subject-specific and pedagogical components, as well as the dysfunctionality of internal quality assurance systems in education institutions.
