International Presentation Session marking the launch of the Ukrainian Research Integrity Office (UkrRIO) initiative

On May 23, 2025, an international presentation session took place to mark the launch of the Ukrainian Research Integrity Office (UkrRIO) initiative. The event brought together experts in higher education quality assurance, research ethics, and academic integrity from Ukraine and across Europe, with the aim of fostering a sustainable research culture grounded in the principles of integrity.

Nataliia Stukalo, NAQA Vice Head, delivered a welcoming address, emphasising the significance of such initiatives in the context of international cooperation and the improvement of approaches to research integrity in higher education and science.

The UkrRIO project is coordinated by Artem Artiukhov, NAQA member and Head of the Ethics Committee.

UkrRIO is an initiative designed to establish a supportive environment for researchers in Ukraine, based on transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in research activities.

During the event, participants discussed international practices for building research integrity systems, the stages of UkrRIO’s implementation, findings from a national survey on challenges faced by Ukrainian researchers, and a model for promoting integrity through educational tools and a network of experts.

Supporting a culture of integrity, implementing European practices, developing initiatives such as UkrRIO, and ensuring qualitative change within the higher education system are core priorities of NAQA’s work.
