NAQA met with the German Quality Assurance Agency (AQAS)

The National Agency and the Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programs (AQAS) held the first meeting on October 19.

AQAS is one of the quality assurance agencies in Germany that conducts accreditation of study programmes and institutional accreditation both in Germany and abroad. AQAS is a member of the European University Association (EUA), the European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA), the European Network for Quality Assurance (ENQA), and the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), and the International Network of Quality Assurance Agencies (INQAAHE).

German colleagues Dr. Verena Kloeters, AQAS General Manager, Ronny Heintze, AQAS Senior Consultant, Patrick Heinzer, AQAS Consultant spoke about the higher education quality assurance system in Germany and the procedures used at AQAS. Dr. Prof. Serhiy Kvit, NAQA Head, Dr. Prof. Nataliia Stukalo, NAQA Vice-Head, Ms. Albina Tsiatkovska, International Project Manager, shared the approaches used in Ukraine and NAQA’s experience during the pandemic. Participants discussed issues of institutional accreditation, accreditation abroad, accreditation of PhD programs. Despite the different forms of government and quality assurance systems in Ukraine and Germany, the participants noted much in common in the work of the agencies.

As a result of the meeting, the participants outlined further ways of cooperation between agencies as well as participation in joint projects and initiatives.
