The pilot NAQA and IAAR (Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating, Kazakhstan) project has entered its active phase

The project is aimed to provide the simultaneous accreditation of medical study programmes of Ukrainian HEI’s, in order to recognize them not only in Ukraine but also abroad, in accordance with the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education — WFME.

On January 26-28th, within the framework of this pilot project, a simultaneous field accreditation examination of the professional study programme “Medicine”, specialty 222 “Medicine”, the second higher education level (Master’s) took place at Sumy State University.

NAQA experts conducted a study programmes’ assessment for compliance with the criteria set out in the Regulation on Accreditation, and the IAAR expert group worked according to the requirements of the WFME.
It should be noted that NAQA and IAAR study programmes quality criteria are fully comparable and practically indistinguishable. Thus, both expert groups worked in harmony, professionally and in compliance with all the requirements of national legislation and international standards. Experts communicated with focus groups in English — international experts and observers noted the high level of English language proficiency of both Ukrainian experts, Sumy State University representatives and students.

The next step is preparation of the expert groups’ reports and the decisions of both agencies, which will be taken independently of each other and in accordance with the national legislation of each country.

Based on the results of this pilot project of simultaneous international accreditation, NAQA has planned to hold a webinar for all HEIs with existing medical study programs. Information about the day and time of the webinar will be published on the NAQA website and NAQA official Facebook page.
